Sinkholes are often noticed as a soft spot in the yard, or a sinking spot. This happens when a void is created under the grounds surface that allows the earth to "cave in." Often, we find that previous owners have buried stumps, or other unsuitable fill that is leading to the ground settling.  

To remove most sinkholes, we typically follow these steps:

• Excavate: Use an excavator to dig up the entire area until we hit clean soil. We must remove every piece of rotting wood, stump, and debris that has been buried.
• Backfill: Fill the hole in 6-inch "lifts" or layers.
• Compact: We us a compactor on every layer to prevent future settling.
